Martyn Ironmonger

The Club are saddened to announce the death on March 7th of Martyn Ironmonger, a retired garage proprietor from Alveston near Stratford Upon Avon.

Though a relatively new member of the Club Martyn responded happily to the Club's request for volunteers and became for a short time a much appreciated 8 and 10 fulfillment officer.

At the same time he was restoring his own 1956 10 which he completed and was happily able to drive locally on a few occasions last year. It had a somewhat unorthodox Mini grille as he was unable to source the correct item but it suited the car surprisingly well.

He became very ill with pneumonia towards the end of last year and spent a long time in hospital after which he had no alternative but to give up his Club post. However he eventually returned home and seemed to be making a remarkable recovery, even resuming driving.

Sadly he was discovered to have heart problems, went into hospital for an Angiogram and died suddenly of a heart attack a few minutes after the procedure had been carried out.

Our sincere condolences go out to his wife Wendy and the family.
